Colònia de Sant Pere was built as a settlement on the east side of the Badia d’Alcúdia (‘Bay of Alcúdia’), the largest sea cut of the northeast coast of Mallorca. Founded in 1880, the town has 590 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). Next to Colònia de Sant Pere, on the east coast of the Bay of Alcúdia, there are still some isolated settlements called urbanizations that emerged in the 1960s, such as the Urbanització Betlem, the Urbanització Montferrutx and the Urbanització s’Estanyol.
The small port of Colònia de Sant Pere houses some fishing boats, but is usually run by yachts. The buildings of the village are one to two storeys high buildings as in other tourist centers are missing. Although tourism has already found its way here, it is not designed for high visitor numbers. Accordingly, it is quiet on the promenade and beaches.
On the promenade with benches under tamarisk waterfront north of the harbor, some bars and restaurants have settled. Below the promenade is the protected from the north by a breakwater local beach. It is about 80 meters long and 20 meters wide. The beach is equipped with showers and is well visited in summer.

Surroundings
More beaches can be found especially southwest of Colonia Sant Pere. Past the small beach of the district of S’Estanyol, the 1800 meter long beach of s’Arenal de Sa Canova is worth a visit. Behind the beach is the Sa Canova d’Artà woodland, home to the Talaiotic settlement of Sa Canova, the remains of the Talaiot culture, a pre-historic megalithic culture.
On the coastal path towards Urbanització Betlem are the remains of the dolmen of S’Aigua Dolça, a megalithic tomb dating from 1750-1650 BC. To find Chr.
Excursion destinations for hikers are in the adjacent mountains. About the Ermita de Betlem are indicated hiking trails to the defensive towers Talaia Freda and Talaia Moreia and the Puig de sa Tudossa above the Cap de Ferrutx. [SOURCE WIKIPEDIA]
